As a first step, you will have a painless ultrasound examination. Based on the results, we will individually suggest the most suitable treatment method for you. We perform laser varicose vein surgery under tumescent anaesthesia, a variant of local anaesthesia where an anaesthetic solution is injected into the area around the vein to be treated, thus numbing the area. As an additional optionfor greater comfort, we offer the option of analgosedation(light general anaesthesia). You will not feel the removal of the varicose veins afterwards.
During endovascular laser ablation, the doctor will insert a laser fibreinto the vein by means of a tiny puncture . A powerful laser then turns the laser beam into heat energy that closes the damaged vein from the inside. There is no need to surgically remove it, and the surrounding healthy parts of the veins remain intact. In addition, the safe progress of the procedure is continuously monitored by ultrasound.
On the day of surgery, we do not overdoit with sports and also do not recommend driving. On the contrary, sufficient walking and drinking are important. Wear compression stockings continuously for the first week after the procedure and only during the day for the following 2 weeks. They are inconspicuous and easy to hide under clothing. Avoid heavy physical exertion for the first 1-2 weeks. Normal activities can be performed without restrictions.
Wait 1-2 weeks after the procedure to engage in vigorous sports, sunbathing and sauna use.
